pain ray vs. tear gas or pepper spray: the fundamental difference is that the main purpose of the first is to inflict pain, making it thus illegal.

your position on US software in China is totally untenable: why would US censored software be preferable to Chinese censored software? because the comments are in English? because it's non-communist? because it's morally purer? because the US software can better integrate with the almost-monopoly the US already has on censoring and internet blocking technologies???

come on... you're not that kind of a patriot.
